Settlement in Ahırlı, BC. It dates back to the 2000s. As can be understood from the historical artifacts in the region, the Byzantine Empire ruled here before the Turks. After the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, with the opening of the gate of Anatolia to the Turks, Turkish raids were made in Anatolia. During the reign of Great Seljuk Ruler Melihşah, Kutalmışoğlu Süleyman Shah raided Anatolia and advanced to Iznik. When Süleyman Shah came to Konya, he conquered this place and sent his raiders to the region where Ahırlı was located and ensured the conquest of this place. Since this date, the region has come under Turkish rule. During the Turkification of Konya, Turkish families from Central Asia (Horasan) came and settled in this region.
After the conquest of Anatolia, Ahırlı served as a military center and base where the Anatolian Seljuks' military and cavalry units, which have been continuing since Byzantium, against the Crusaders who attacked Anatolia from Cyprus and Alanya, especially during the Crusades. Ahırlı Beys, consisting of Dodurga Oğuz Beys, who are among the İçel Turkmens, have defended the region heroically since then. These stables where horses are raised; It is the road located in the old mosque (Aşağıoluk and Hansıdı) locality. The oldest settlements are Dodurga, Doğancı Creek and Gavur Öreni. At that time, the water need of the district was also met from the water cistern under the old mosque.
Ahırlı undertook the same task during the Karamanoğulları period. Karamanoğlu İbrahim Bey (D.1454) established foundations in this region. Bozkır tribe, living in Taşlık Silifke of İçel Turkmen, ruled in today's Bozkır and Ahırlı Districts under the leadership of Bozkır Bey in the II Beyazıt Period and Bozkır Bey's son Hüseyin Bey during the Kanuni period. Fifty blacksmiths, fifty roasted chickpeas, thirty shoemakers, four weavers, ten blacksmiths, ten carpenters, ten bricklayers, ten grocers, fifteen tailors, twenty It was a trade center where 394 tradesmen such as butchers were active.
Ahırlı, which was established in 1963, was one of the town centers of Bozkır county. With the Law on the Establishment of 130 Districts dated 09.05.1990 and numbered 3644, it was separated from Bozkır District and became a district after Akkise Town, Aliçerçi, Bademli, Balıklava, Büyüköz, Çiftlik, Erdoğan, Karacakuyu, Kayacık, Kuruçay and Küçüköz villages were connected to it. As of 31 July 1991, it started its activities as a district.
Ahırlı was established on a slowly rising embankment in the east of Suğla Lake. To the south, the Taurus mountain range stretches. It is surrounded by Bozkır in the east, Yalıhüyük and Seydişehir in the west, and Akören in the north. There are various plateaus in the north and foothills of the Taurus Mountains within the boundaries of the district. These; Lower Plateau (Bademli Plateau), Bartli Plateau, Sülek, Gölcük, Karacakuyu Plateau, Lower and Upper Sazaklar, Kayacık, Çiftlik and Erdoğan Village Plateaus. In the spring, some of these plateaus migrate. Ahırlı district is located between 37-38 latitude and 32-33 longitude circles. It is 1.200 meters above sea level and has an area of 49.000 hectares. The place of establishment of the district is hilly. The area where it is settled consists of solid limestones. It is shown within the 4th degree earthquake zones on the earthquake map. There is no stream passing through the district boundaries. However, Beyşehir Canal passes through the lands of Akkise Town and Balıklava Village of the district and pours into Apa Dam. The climate of the district has the characteristics of Central Anatolia and Mediterranean climates. The livelihood is mainly on agriculture and animal husbandry.
