AKOREN
It is 49 km from Çatalhüyük, the oldest city of Anatolia. The history of Akören, which is as close as possible, dates back to 7,000-6,500 BC. The ancient city of Gökyurt (Gilistra-Lystra) near Hatunsaray between Konya and Akören is an important evidence of Roman Civilization in the region, and according to the information obtained from archeological epigraphists, the artifacts found in Akçeşme are important remains of the Byzantine Period in the region. It is seen that the Bayındır and Kayı tribes of the Oghuzs, who came to Anatolia after the conquest of Anatolia by the Great Seljuk Sultan Alparslan with the Manzikert Victory, showed a settlement that included Akören. The Bayındır Boyu of the Üçoks, the left arm of the Oghuzs, settled in Akçeşme, Bayındır, Yukarı Yarımca, Aşağı Yarımca, Ertaş Boğazı, Mihrab and Kayı Beleni areas of Akören today.

According to rumors, this place is covered with lush forests and has a large amount of game animals, so it is called "Avren", which means "The Huntsman" and "The Giver of Prey" or "The Universe of Trees", and it was named "Akviran" with the gathering of the people from the seven desolate places around it in today's settlement. The name is said to have been changed. In 1961, the name of Akviran was changed and officially registered as "Akoren" in accordance with the Law enacted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the changing of the names of some towns and villages in Anatolia according to the topographic and historical situation.

As it can be understood from the archives of the Prime Ministry Archive and the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, in the 16th century Akören was a village connected to the Hatunsaray District of Konya Sanjak and the military operations were carried out through Seydişehir, then it became a village affiliated to Çumra. It became Akören District on August 4, 1914 and the Municipality Organization was established on the same date. The judicial organization was established in 1953 when it was in Bucak, but after 5 years of service, it was transferred to Çumra in 1958.

Attempts to become two separate districts in 1926 and 1958 were unsuccessful, and finally, with the Law No. 3392 dated 19.06.1987, it gained District Status with 8 villages affiliated to it. Then, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 20.06.1991 and numbered 91/38043, the number of villages became 11 together with the villages of Avdan, Dutlu and Belkuyu, which were separated from the Bozkır District and connected to it in terms of property. With the Council of Ministers Decision dated 17.08.2001 and numbered 2001/2022, Çomaklar Village was connected to Meram District. Municipal organization was established in Kayasu, one of the affiliated villages, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 07.08.1995 and numbered 95/44644, and in Avdan, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 20.11.1998 and numbered 98/49933. As of 30 March 2014, Villages and Town Municipalities have been transformed into Neighborhoods in accordance with Law No. 6360.
