ALTINEKIN
The history of the district is quite old. There are artifacts belonging to the Hittites, Phrygians and Romans.
The old name of Altınekin is "ZIVARIK" which means plenty of water. Altınekin, which was a big city called Pegella during the Roman period, lived its brightest period during the Seljuk period. The district, which was a major trade center during this period, provided great services to passengers with the Sarnıç Inn and Zıvarık Inn. One of the most important works of this period is the Ali Pasha Mosque.
Altınekin was an important and bright trade center during the Seljuk period. However, the barren land of Altınekin gradually extinguished its developed trade due to the onset of migrations. While it was a developed settlement center with all public institutions in the Republican Period, it became a small town after these institutions were moved to another place. Later, Altınekin became a district with the Law No. 3292 published in the Official Gazette No. 19507 on July 4, 1987. Since it is in the Central Anatolia region, it is in the continental climate zone.
