Bozkır
Bozkır, one of the oldest districts of Konya, is 116 km away from the city center. It is located within the borders of the Mediterranean region of Konya. It was established on the outskirts of the Taurus Mountains overlooking the Central Anatolian region. This feature of Bozkır has affected its climate, vegetation, social and economic structure. It is 1,150 meters above sea level. The Taurus Mountains determine the effects of the Mediterranean climate and the continental climate. Peaks (Tufan Deresi, Tosun Taş, Sarı Ot, Sülek, Gölcük) are the places where mountain tourism is made in summer, where the nomads of the Mediterranean region, the Bozkır people, come together and mingle with their plateaus with fresh air, thyme and pine scent and cold water.

Bozkır's neighbors are Güneysinder and Çumra in the East, Hadim in the South, Gündoğmuş in the Southwest, Akseki and Ahırlı in the West, Seydişehir, Ahırlı and Yalıhüyük in the North.

The valley that gives life to the Çarşamba Stream, Bozkır, originating from the Taurus Mountains, is the agricultural production and settlement area. Wednesday tea; It comes out of the spring called Aygır Pınarı, and it used to flow cleanly and without deterioration until recently, and environmental pollution has also affected this stream as it comes by traversing settlements such as Karacahisar, Sorkun, Dere and Çağlayan until it reaches the district center. Accordingly, the people of the surrounding area and the authorities have started studies for the construction of treatment plants. In the region called the water roof, Çarşamba stream joins with Çarşamba channel coming from Beyşehir lake, and flows into Apa dam in the form of Çarşamba water.

The name of the steppe in ancient times was LEONTOPOLIS (City of Lions). It is located in the Isaura region. Throughout history, this region has remained under the rule of various tribes. It was ruled within the borders of the Roman Empire for a long time, M.S. In 395, the Roman Empire was divided into two, and remained within the borders of Eastern Rome (Byzantine). With the Turks making Konya the capital in 1176, the Isauria region was captured by the Turks.

Bozkır Bey, who lived in and around Yalıhüyük at the beginning of the 1400s, came to Leontopolis and named it after himself. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the name of the Steppe was referred to as "Siristat", "Silistad", "Seriustat". The reason why it is called with this name comes from the chief master (Ser Usta) of Silvery Lead, which was extracted in the deluge stream and brought to the district center and melted in the old primary school (Atatürk Primary School (Selimiye School)). was being obtained.

The name Bozkır is referred to as "Ice-break" in Katip Çelebi's World Numa. Hamilton, who carried out scientific research in the Isauria region, named the Steppe "Tris-mine". This name; It is understood that the triple metal gives reference to the name of lead, gold and silver. Local and foreign historians and archaeologists, who have come to Bozkır for years by examining the historical and historical artifacts and geographical structure of Bozkır, have introduced Bozkır and its surroundings in their works.

Bozkır Zenzibar Castle

Isaura, which is built on a hill dominating the Bozkır, is called Zengibar Castle and is 16 km from Bozkır. Isaura was built on a hill at an altitude of 1860 meters. The hill surrounded by steep cliffs is a place that can keep Konya and the Taurus Mountains under control. This specially selected mountain top also controls the Seydişehir, Karaman and Hadim regions. This dominant hill, where abundant water resources can be seen, Taurus mountain ranges, Seydişehir and Suğla Lakes, and even many regions of Konya can be seen, was consciously chosen by the Isaura people. It is thought that the Zengibar Castle, whose walls are 4 km long, was conquered during the Seljuk period.

In historical sources; "The steppe was in the Isaura region in ancient times. In the Byzantine (Roman) period, a large castle was built in the southeast of today's city, which was Leontopolis, later called the new Isauri (Isauria Nova). It is rumored that there are twenty-seven churches in the castle. A few bastions survived, mostly destroyed by amateur treasure hunters. "It is estimated that the Great Seljuk (Anatolian) Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat passed through here on his way to conquer Alaiye (Alanya). (Because the shortest highway to Alanya passes through here. (162.5 km.)
