After the Battle of Yermuk, in which the Arabs defeated the Eastern Roman Emperor Heraclius, the Arabs, advancing from Adana and Tarsus to the Taurus Mountains, attacked Byzantium during the raids to Central Anatolia in response to the Byzantine raids; He made it accepted that some of Halkapınar and Ereğli's income would be sent to Beytülmal. With the weakening of the Abbasid State, the Byzantines used the castles around Halkapınar, which was again completely under Byzantine rule, as a base.

Halkapınar, 6 years after the Battle of Manzikert (1077), passed into the hands of the Anatolian Seljuks during the reign of Kutalmışoğlu Süleyman Shah. Halkapınar, which came under the rule of Karaman Principality with the capture of Konya by Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey in 1276, passed under the rule of the Ottomans together with Ereğli in 1398. Afterwards, Halkapınar, which was again under the rule of the Karaman Principality and the Mamluks, was completely within the borders of the Ottoman Empire after Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered Konya in 1468. During the Ottoman Empire, the region was turned into a soldier-free area and was administered by the aghas of Darüsseade living in Istanbul.

The district was located in the city of Anari, which was founded by the Byzantines, between the present Karayusuflu and Büyükdoğan Villages, before it was conquered by the Turks. At that time, the settlement and administrative center of the city was the city of Anari. When the beautiful daughter of the King of Anari, whom he loved very much, died, a temple named Zengi was built in our present district. The people used to be in the Zengi temple on the days of the liturgy. The word Zengi changed from time to time and turned into Zanapa. Since the region was frequently invaded and invaded, the Zengi temple of the time was destroyed, rebuilt, and then demolished again. During the researches, a bronze coin was found proving all this. After the War of Independence Halkapınar; It was organized as a township in Konya Province, Ereğli District, and as a town with the municipality organization established in 1954. The old name of the district, which was Zanapa, was changed in 1962 and took the name of today's Halkapınar.
A productive part of the agricultural lands in the region remained in the İvriz Dam area, which was put into operation in 1985. This caused some of the people to migrate to big cities, especially Mersin and Ereğli.

The first District Governor of Halkapınar, which became a district with the law dated 09.05.1990 and numbered 3644, took office on 23.08.1991. Our district was connected to the Metropolitan Municipality with the Law No. 6360 on 31.03.2014, and 15 villages that were previously village status were transformed into neighborhood status and connected to Halkapınar Municipality and included in the service area of ​​our municipality.
