TUZLUKCU
Tuzlukçu's history dates back to ancient times; However, there is no definite information about when and by whom it was founded. In İbrahim Hakkı Konyalı's book "Konya Province", it is seen that Tuzlukçu was a 15-household oba during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. However, it is known that Tuzlukçu people came from the Ketenlik Plateau of Doğanhisar and stayed in a place called Viran or Ören Tuzlukçu near Yazla (Apsarı), and later migrated for unknown reasons and settled around the hill called "Hüyük" in today's Yukarı Neighborhood. Again, as the second group, it is known that a tribe of Avşar Turkmens living on the skirts of the Sultan Mountains and making a living with animal husbandry came and settled in the Aşağı Mahalle area around 1450.
There are various rumors about Tuzlukçu's name. According to one rumor, it was called "TUZLUKÇU" because it was the accommodation place of the caravans going to Tuz Lake to bring salt from the surrounding villages and towns, and according to another rumor, it was called "TOZLUKÇU" due to the dust lifted by the strong winds due to the barren and treeless land. It was named TUZLUKÇU. Tuzlukçu, which was a village connected to Akşehir in the first years of the Republic, became a township with the merger of Aşağı and Yukarı Tuzlukçu in 1929, and became a town in 1949.
